Store Shopping Experience Made Easier Using AR

Step into the future of shopping with AR:

"See it, try it, love it!"

Problem

Navigating within a building from one location to another using the existing GPS services is difficult and can be wrong at times. Similarly, considering the scenario of a grocery store, we often find ourselves in a situation where we are clueless about a product’s location. Majority amount accounts to grocery sales. So, many users will leave the store without purchasing. Some of the main frustrations of the users may include:

  • Difficulty in finding product location

  • Finding product deals instantly is hard

  • The user has no access to product reviews

  • Time-consuming

  • Comparing products is a challenge

  • Less number of employees / they are occupied with other customers

Solution

AR is shaping the future and could deliver a lot of value for marketing, the retail industry, and more importantly for the consumers. For this project, we used AR as a medium to help users navigate. When a user visits a grocery store he/she, he follows the below steps

  • Scans a QR code

  • Check the store map on app

  • User can search and navigate to that product

  • Get details about product like nutrition facts, expiry date and other information

  • Save products to shopping list

Survey & Findings

Survey: As part of our research on AR shopping experiences, we conducted a user survey to understand their opinions and preferences. There are a total of 8 participants who participated out of which 5 are male and 3 are female

Findings: User survey has given us a broad range of data and different perspectives of users. The following are some of the key findings that we came across

User Flow

Based on all out data collection, and user surveys we have designed the following user interface

Design

Using the data from our data collection, user research, user surveys and user flows, we have started working on low-fedility wireframes

Prototype

From the created wireframes, we gave a visual design to design to the wireframes.the Wireframes. While doing the visual design (UI) we considered the guidelines for items such as the following to create an intuitive and enjoyable user experience

  • Icons

  • Typography

  • Color schemes
